Axiom Consulting Partners' Traci McCready will be addressing the 22nd Annual Summer Institute in Nursing Informatics being held July 18-20, at the University of Maryland School of Nursing.
Ms. McCready will be joining Lt. Colonel Nicole L. Kerkenbush, Chief Medical Information Officer of the U.S. Army Medical Division (AMEDD), in a presentation titled "Clinical Informatics Workforce Development: Progress to Date and the Road Ahead."
AMEDD is on a mission to help improve patient care by enhancing and growing the Clinical Informatics workforce. In a highly competitive market for informatics talent, the Army is developing an integrated, data-driven approach to talent management that will level the playing field with the private sector and position AMEDD as an employer of choice.
Lt. Colonel Kerkenbush and Ms. McCready will discuss AMEDD's rigorous approach to developing role profiles and identifying talent gaps. Among the surprising insights they will share is that fact that convincing employees and managers to share candid comments was critical to the development of detailed role profiles. Role profiles, providing a 360 degree view of every aspect of an employee's position and performance, are the heart of integrated talent management strategy.
They will also discuss AMEDD's state-of-the-art training and development program that includes formal coaching at the leadership level, peer-to-peer mentoring to enhance technical skills, classroom instruction, self-study facilitation and a library of course material. Because the program is data-driven, the library can be filtered by role, non-technical/technical skill and type of learning experience to provide a personalized development plan that is specific to a role, an individual's growth needs and learning preferences.
