As I reflect on Moody’s CSR progress, I am very proud of our employees’ efforts and the work we have done with our partners to make a difference in communities around the world. I’m excited about where we’re headed.

Over the past year, we challenged ourselves to refocus Moody’s CSR strategy on areas where our unique strengths intersect with society’s most pressing needs. This process helped us recognize that by connecting people around the world to knowledge, opportunity and tools to pursue their goals, we can help open doors to a better future. 

I see this happening in Reshape Tomorrow™, our global initiative dedicated to promoting greater financial empowerment for people all over the world. We’re aiming to empower small-business owners — especially women and those who possess untapped potential — with vital access to information about the credit process as well as the training necessary to build essential business skills.

Moody's Investors Service also expanded its Environmental, Social and Governance Initiative in 2017, which provides insight to help the financial community better understand how factors like climate change affect creditworthiness. Moody’s Investors Service completed dozens more Green Bond Assessments, which give investors the information they need to back environmental projects with confidence.

CSR has guided Moody’s approach to business for many years, in many areas — including philanthropy, volunteerism and environmental sustainability. I urge you to explore this site to take a closer look at our efforts and achievements in 2017, as well as our even more ambitious goals for the year ahead.
