Our “new normal” is becoming just normal though the way it feels like a Walking Dead episode going into Walmart now I may never get used to it. Honestly I never liked Walmart (or shopping at all) anyway and now I just avoid it – its just so weird. But, on a general basis, I think we are all beginning to just accept how things are and are continuing to live our lives again. Gifts for friends and family is such a great idea – especially for people we can’t see because of what’s going on this world!

We’re now more than halfway through 2020 – the weirdest year on record for most of us. Hopefully, it will come to an end soon, and we can put the crisis behind us and get on with our lives. We can’t stay cooped up forever.

Events like the current health crisis have a habit of making you think long and hard about what you can do to make the world a better place. For some, it’s grand gestures. But for most people, it’s the simple things that make the most significant difference.

At times like this, when you can’t see people as much as you would like, gifts become more important. You want to remind people that you still have a connection with them. And you want to provide them with resources that they can use, just in case the health crisis continues to eat into people’s incomes. If you’re at work and haven’t been furloughed, you’re in the perfect position to send people gifts that improve their lives and help them through this difficult time.

Here are some gifts you might want to consider for the year ahead:

Send Them Hand Sanitizer

As people return to work, the need for hand sanitizer is going to rise considerably. Carrying a small bottle of alcohol gel is substantially more convenient than trying to find a sink every five minutes or so.

The shortage of hand sanitizer is now well and truly behind us, so you can purchase freely. It’s a cheap gift and one that people will appreciate.

Buy Them A Pot Plant

Many people (especially vulnerable adults) haven’t been able to get out of the house and enjoy nature for a long time because of the risk of illnesses.

Fortunately, that doesn’t have to be a problem. You can just buy isolated people a pot plant and bring greenery to them for gifts!

Stuck on what to buy? At times like this, when people may have lost loved ones, the Chinese money plant is ideal. Online florists advertise it as being great for expressing your sympathy or showing somebody you want them to get well soon.

Food Delivery Vouchers

For many of us, going out to restaurants is a lot of fun – and a big part of our lives in the run-up to 2020. Since the lockdown, though, we haven’t been able to go out with our friends and enjoy ourselves.

No problem: many eateries are now offering convenient, socially-distanced food deliveries, cutting out the risk of grabbing a delicious meal. A voucher, therefore, could make a tremendous post-lockdown gift for somebody you know who loves food.

Send Them A Bumper Kids Entertainment Box

With many schools still closed, entertaining kids has become the number one parental concern. We all want to keep their minds active, even when they must spend all day indoors.

Therefore, a bumper kids’ entertainment box could be just what stressed-out parents in your life need right now. You could buy one ready-made or build your own. Include things like coloring sets, puzzles, toys, and books.

Get Them Noise-Cancelling Headphones

A lot of people are now working from home. But to their surprise, they’re discovering that it is very different from the office. Other household members don’t always understand the need for peace and quiet while working.

Fortunately, noise-canceling headphones can help. These devices send out special signals that cancel out the outside world, allowing you to focus exclusively on your work and nothing else. What’s more, because they’re so effective at blocking noise, people don’t have to listen to music so loud, thus preserving their hearing.

Get Them Soothing Balms

The government is telling us to wash our hands every five minutes to prevent the spread of infection. But putting soap directly on the skin multiple times per day isn’t without cost. It eventually dries the skin out, leaving it red and parched.

Hand moisturizers and balms are, therefore, an excellent gift for the post-lockdown world. Handwashing isn’t going to end anytime soon, unfortunately, so people need products that replace lost moisture.

Buy Them Some Books

Many people now have much more time on their hands than they expected at the start of the year. The chronic lack of work and millions on furlough means that a large number of people are turning to the written word.

Think carefully about the type of books that the person might enjoy. Do they like fiction? Or do they have a hobby they need to know more about? You could also order them a book for an e-reader.
